CRAFT Challenge - Congratulations
http://trimmiescraftchallenge.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/challenge-222-29th-of-august-well.html

I have used three papers from a paper pack by Kaisercraft called "Blast Off".  Although there are a lot of papers with an alien/space theme there are also some like these three that are good strong masculine colours.  The image is from Bugaboo Stamps and coloured in copic markers.  The sentiment is from Desert Diva and die-cut with Spellbinders oval die.  I have also added some glitter tape and matted with blue cardstock.

Thank You

A pretty card to say Thank You using some papers I bought this week.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Sunday Sketch & Stamp - Sketch
http://sundaysketchandstamp.blogspot.co.nz/2013/08/challenge-171-caroles-sketch.html

I have used a paper from Kaisercraft for this card.  The sentiment comes from Netty's Card and the image from Bugaboo Stamps.  I edged both sentiment and image using a copic marker and also coloured the image using copic markers RV04, RV02, RV13, RV10, E25, E21, G02, G000, G17, G14, E00.  I have added some glitter tape and some large pink pearls as embellishments.

Seven Nation Army

Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes is the current challenge at Musically Challenged.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
Musically Challenged - Seven Nation Army
http://musicallychallengedchallenge.blogspot.gr/2013/08/seven-nation-army-challenge-7.html
Sentimental Sundays - Ombre Hair
http://sentimentalsundays.blogspot.co.nz/2013/08/challenge-169-ombre-hair.html

I have used a segment from the video as well as a bit from the lyrics for the sentiment.  The triangles are distinctive throughout the video.  I have layered these ones using the same colours as in the vid.  The other distinctive piece of the video is the piece played on the guitar so I had to feature a guitar in some way to symbolise that.  I found this image from Bird's Cards which was just perfect.  I gave the guy red and black hair as at points in the video the hair seemed two toned.  I used SpiderFinger font to type a line of the lyrics.

Thank You Teacher

Another card ready for the end of the school year:

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
Flat Friends - Colour Combination
http://flatfriendschallenge.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/challenge-11-colour-combo-x.html

I have used a background paper from a paper pad by MME - this one is actually from a Christmas paper pad.  The image is from Flat Friends and has been coloured with copic markers 100, C7, C5, C3, C1, E00 and an RV marker which I forgot to note down the number!  The ribbon is some I bought a little while ago that I thought might be good for cards but was still sitting unopened!!
I have also added a sparkly glitter dome to the card.

Success is a Journey

I really like this sentiment - "Success is a Journey not a Destination".

Robyn's Fetish - Rectangle Cards Only
 http://robynsfetishchallengeblog.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/challenge-174-rectangle-cards-only.html

I used both sides of one paper from MME for this card.  I often can't decide which side to use of a double sided paper - this way I used both!!!  The image is from Nutcrafters and has been coloured with copic markers.  The sentiment is from Scribbles By Sandy which I printed, die-cut and embossed.  All dies used are from Spellbinders.  I used blue cardstock for matting and some light blue pearls from Sullivans as embellishments.

I have used a paper from Décosse's Dynamite Doodles as the backdrop for this image.  The sentiment is also from Décosse's Dynamite Doodles.  The image comes from Digi Stamps 4 Joy.  I have coloured using copic markers.

Be Inspired

I have used the inspiration photo at The Alley Way Stamps and go with quite an obvious inspiration this week:

This is the original photo so you can see what I mean!

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
The Alley Way Stamps - Photo Inspiration
http://www.thealleywaystamps.blogspot.co.nz/search/label/BE%20inspired%20Challenge

I have die-cut a rectangle of number paper from a matstack by DCWV called "A Type of Art".  The image is from The Alley Way Stamps and has been repeat printed and then coloured with copic markers.  I then added a strip of dark grey grosgrain ribbon from American Crafts.   A nice CAS card inspired by the cleanness of the inspiration photo.

Fuschia and Hummingbird

My mother has lots of fuschia plants in her garden and this is one of the colours that she has:

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
Delicious Doodles - Birds of a Feather
http://deliciousdoodleschallenge.blogspot.co.nz/2013/08/challenge-50-birds-of-feather.html

I have used a background paper from MME for this card.  I made the image large enough to make it the focal point of the card with a little border of the background paper showing.  I coloured the image with copic markers and then added some Glossy Accents to the hummingbird.  The flower is one I was given as a gift - I added a pearl to the centre to give it more definition.

Smiley Christmas Angel

I just love this cute image with such an adorable smile!

Crafting For All Seasons - Tag It
http://craftingforallseasons.blogspot.co.nz/2013/08/challenge-59-tag-it.html

The background paper is from a Christmas paper pad that I've had for a while.  The image is from Stamp Fairy and coloured with copic markers.  The hearts have been cut from burgundy cardstock using dies from Marianne's Designs.  The tag has been cut using a Sissix die.  The sentiment is a pre-coloured sentiment from Décosse's Dynamite Doodles.  I added some fibres from my stash to the tag.

Sweet - Pizza Time

This little ant has found himself a sweet treat - pizza!!

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Papertake Weekly - Sketch 83
http://papertakeweekly.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/sketchie-free-for-all.html

I bought some new paper pads from Kaisercraft  which arrived today.  I have used two papers and a border strip from the "Summer Breeze" pad for this card.  The sketch that I have followed is Sketch #83 (although under the sketch it says #82 it saves as #83 - not sure how the numbering seems to have got skewed along the way!).   Anyway, it is a Papertake Weekly Challenge sketch.

The image is from Melonheadz.  I have had these images for a while and not quite found the right papers to work well with them.  There are a few others in the series that I have yet to use but I decided I quite liked the pizza one for this card.    Matting is some left over green cardstock from another project.

Christmas ATC Card

I struggle a little with ATC cards for some reason.  I did manage to complete this one though:

I am entering this ATC into the following challenges:

I have used Holiday Cinderella by Sassy Studio Designs and coloured her with copic markers E25, E21, G17, G14, R29, R27, E00.   I also added some Stickles - Crystal.  The embellishments are red gems from Sullivans.

Wednesday 28 August 2013

I forgot your birthday!

I'm always forgetting birthdays so figured I needed to have a few cards ready for when I do forget!

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
CRAFT Challenge - Sketch
http://trimmiescraftchallenge.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/challenge-221-22nd-of-august-sketch.html
QKR Stampede - Anything Goes

Catch The Bug - Photo Inspiration (flowers)
http://catchthebugblog.blogspot.co.nz/2013/08/august-photo-inspiration-challenge.html

I have used tartan papers from two different paper packs by Trimgym for this card.  I wanted to pick up the colours of the flowers as well as the teacup in the papers so using papers from different packs allowed me to do this.  Of course, it would have been much easier if I chose the papers before I coloured the image but I don't always do things the easy way!

The image is from Bugaboo Stamps and is called Violetta teacup. I used copic markers for the colouring of the image - BV08, BV02, BV000, RV04, RV02, G17, G14, Y35.  The sentiment is from Create with TLC.   All die-cutting is with Spellbinders dies - rectangles, square and oval.

Bon Voyage

I've gone a bit off-beat with this card!  I've gone with a let's have a drink to celebrate your upcoming travels!

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

QKR Stampede - Anything Goes
http://qkrstampede.blogspot.co.nz/2013/08/qkr-stampede-weekly-challenge-53.html

I have used a selection of papers from Create with TLC for this card and matted them with kraft cardstock.  The image is from Milk Coffee, coloured with copic markers E11, R59 and R27 and highlighted with Glossy Accents.  All die-cutting is with Spellbinders dies in rectangles, square and pennant.  The Bon Voyage sentiment is one I typed on the computer myself as I couldn't find one I liked amongst the many sentiments I have in my collection!  I'm in a fussy mood today I think!  I have finished the sketch off with the help of a couple of buttons that came from my Mum's button box.

Ladybug Hi

A card just to say Hi to someone:

Sweet Treats

A healthy sweet treat combined with a maybe not so healthy sweet treat!

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Ruby's Rainbow - Food and/or Drink
http://rubysrainbow.blogspot.co.nz/2013/08/ch61-food-and-or-drink.html

I have kept the background as the white card blank.  The papers that I have used come from a paper pad called "Hootenany" by MME.  I die-cut each piece using Spellbinders rectangle dies and then rounded the corners using my Carl Craft corner rounder punch.  That is probably one of the best punches I have ever bought!  The image is from Doodle Pantry and coloured with copic markers C3, C1, R59, R22 and RV10.  I added two strips of blue and brown striped ribbon (although it looks grey in the photograph) and some small red glitter domes that match the berries.

Bonnie Skullbabe

This is the second of two cards in the card "Skate Off"!!

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
Simply B Stamps - Colour Combination
http://simplybettystamps.blogspot.co.nz/2013/08/anyone-for-roller-skating.html

I have used another paper from the Rockstar matstack by DCWV for the background.  The star has been cut using a Spellbinders die from a cardstock stack also by DCWV.  The image is Bonnie Skullbabe from Simply B Stamps coloured with copic markers.  I have added some Stickles - Black Diamond around the star, two black glitter domes, and some small black rhinestones.

Kitty Paws Vultura

This is the first of two cards for a two card "skate-off"!

Trimgym - Anything Goes
http://trimgymsdigistampsandimages.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/august-challenge-anything-goes.html

I have again used a combination of papers from Trimygm together with cardstock for matting to create the background for this card.  These papers are from the Scottish Castle set of papers.  It is amazing how many different papers from Trimgym I have used this month!  With a sketch like the one at CRAFT Challenge, it is good to have a set of papers that work together really well.

The image is from Sassy Studio and is called Lounging Around Sassy.  I have coloured her with copic markers E00, B39, B24, B32, E25, E21, RV95.  I have added a sentiment from Desert Diva as well as two buttons from my Mum's button box with some bakers twine knotted on top.

The sun is out today reminding me that summer is approaching.  Yay!

Just Flying By To Say Hi

A softish colour palette to this one - I have just completed a colourful card and decided to go the opposite with this one!

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
Bearly Mine Challenges - Sketch
http://bearlymine-challenges.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/challenge-100-monthly-sketch.html
MelJens Designs Studio - Fancy Fonts
http://meljensdesignsdt.blogspot.co.nz/2013/08/challenge-174-fancy-fonts.html

I have used three papers from Bearly Mine Designs to create the background.  The image is from MelJens Designs Studio.  I used a Spellbinders square die to cut out the image and a Nellie Snellen Multi-Frame die to cut out the matting.  The lace is from Sullivans.  The sentiment is from Bird's Cards.  I cut two different sized flowers using the same paper as the matting and a Marianne's die.  I have embellished the centre of the flowers as well as surrounding the flowers with a selection of pearls in different sizes.  Colouring is with copic markers in RV and BG ranges.

Colourful Girl

A bit of bright colour to cheer up a dull and damp day!

The Outlawz Sunday Challenge - CAS with uplifting sentiment
http://outlawzchallenges.ning.com/group/sundayscleanandsimplecas/forum/topics/cas-challenge-august-25-2013

I think that a sentiment that tells someone they are very special can be uplifting.  It would certainly life me on a bad day - and a good dose of bright colour helps that along too!

I have used a colourful background paper from MME.  The image is from Crafty Sentiments coloured in copic markers E00, E25, E21, B29, B23, YR07, YR04.  The sentiment is from Desert Diva.  Matting is bright blue cardstock.

Best Wishes Flower Boot

A nice pink colour scheme for this floral card:

Trimgym - Anything Goes
http://trimgymsdigistampsandimages.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/august-challenge-anything-goes.html

I have used several papers from Trimgym layered with pink cardstock.  The image is from Lauretta's and coloured in copic markers RV04, RV02, G17, G14, Y35.  The sentiment is from Desert Diva.  Die-cutting is all with Spellbinders dies - rectangle and square.  The flowers have been created using a Marianne's die and some pink paper from a paper scrap pack.

Pretty fuschia tag

I worked with a colour scheme with a twist of adding a tag:

I made this card for the colour challenge at The Outlawz Challenges and have only just got around to blogging it!!!

I used pearlescent cardstock for the base of this card.  The tag is a pre-made one from a pack containing several different colours.  The smaller age is a sentiment from My Sugar Paper.  The main image is from Anne's Cards 4 U.  I have also added some pearls to the card.

Life's Better on the Beach

Probably not at the moment as it is a cool evening!

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Digi Haven - Sea Life
http://digihaven.blogspot.co.nz/2013/08/sea-life-challenge-sponsored-by.html

My choice of papers and embellishments was partly derived from the beach itself.  The lace is a combination of wave and sand colour.  The papers were chosen to be representative of waves and grains of sand.  You can tell I have been looking at too many inspiration photos lately can't you!

Both papers are from paper pads by MME.  The lace is fairly old as it is some my mother had stashed away in a box - may well have even been from my Nana as she used to hoard lace!  When she passed away, my Mum kept most of it and now I am starting to use some of it.  The image is from Delightful Inspirations and is called Beach Bucket.  The sentiment was also part of the same set.  I matted the image using sand coloured cardstock and edged the sentiment with copic E11 which is a nice sand colour (even though it is actually called "Barely Beige")!!  I am not sure of all the copic colours that I used on the image but it does include E11, G02, G000 and a couple of others.

Back To School

Back To School isn't until February next year so this kinda seems weird making it now - but at least I'm ahead of the game!  We are heading into exam time before Christmas holidays.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
Whoopsi Daisy - Back To School

Outlawz Friday Challenge - Back To School
http://outlawzchallenges.ning.com/group/copicchallenge/forum/topics/alcohol-markers-group-challenge-23-30-august

I had another couple of images I considered for this card - but rejected them as the footwear wasn't right for school!  I went with this one as it looked more like suitable schoolwear.   I have used three different papers from a matstack by DCWV called "A Type of Art" to represent reading, writing and arithmetic!  I also used some glitter numbers to reinforce the arithmetic side of things!  The image is from Whoopsi Daisy and is coloured with copic markers BG49, BG23, E00, R59, E08, Y06 and Y02.  The copic marker experts are probably cringing at my combinations of colours but for some reason R59 and E08 work really well together particularly to get auburn colouring for hair!  I think the BG49 and BG23 seem to work okay together too.  I added a sentiment from Digital Doodling cut with a Spellbinders pennant die.  I used a Nellie Snellen die for the image.

Monster Mash

I had two monsters that I considered putting together for this card - then I thought of the Bobby Pickett song from way back called "Monster Mash".  This is what came of that inspiration:

Digi Darla- Birthday
http://digidarlas.blogspot.co.nz/2013/08/dd-76-birthday-celebrations.html

I have used monsters from both Pollycraft and Little Miss Muffet for this card.  The fantastic space type paper comes from Spyder's Corner - doesn't it just look like outer space!!!  The sentiment comes from Glitterbabe.

Can't Help Falling in Love with you

This card is based on the song "Can't Help Falling in Love with You" It was written by Hugo Peretti, Luigi Creatore, and George David Weiss.  Although sung by Elvis Presley, I am more familiar with the UB40 version.  Here is my card inspired by that song:

I have used four different papers from the Boating Pack by Trimgym.  The image is also from Trimgym and coloured with copic markers.  The sentiment is from Pingvinmamman.  All matting is blue cardstock.  I have also added two blue glitter domes.

I have used a paper from MME for the background.  The ric-rac braid is from American Crafts.  The image is from Digi Darla and coloured with copic markers.  The corner pieces are cut from a small offcut from another card using a Spellbinders die and embellished with a small blue rhinestone.  The sentiment is from Desert Diva, embellished with a blue glitter dome and then raised up using mount tape.

Floral Easel Card

An easel card without DP:

Love To Create - Fancy Folds
http://lovetocreatechallenge.blogspot.co.nz/2013/08/challenge-79-fancy-folds.html

I started colouring this image in primary colours for another challenge and then decided not to use it.  I was having difficulty finding a DP that I liked to go with this image so........I used Trendy Tape instead!  I have used three different colours of Trendy Tape to create the background. The image is from The Stamping Chef and coloured in primary coloured copic markers with the addition of Glossy Accents on the cherry and some Stickles - Fruit Punch and Yellow on the ice-cream and the wafer piece.  I have used red glitter domes for the stoppers and then used blue and clear glitter domes as decoration.  I didn't want to add too much else to the card to distract from the bold colours - it would probably have got lost amongst the boldness anyway!!!

With Sympathy Iris Card

No - not Iris folded but a digi of an iris:

I printed the image and sentiment straight on to the cardstock for this card.  The iris image comes from Sandi's Samples and the sentiment from Sugar Paw Scraps.  I used a Spellbinders Labels die to cut the shape of the card.  The image has been coloured with copic markers BV02, BV000, G17, G14, Y06 with some Stickles - Yellow added to the iris.  I also added some stitching lines with a Distress Marker - Walnut Stain.

Ain't No Sunshine

This card has been based on the song called "Ain't No Sunshine" by Bill Withers:

http://seemsalittlesketchy.blogspot.co.nz/2013/08/sketch-46-squigglefly.html

The layout of the card is based on the current sketch at Seems A Little Sketchy.  I love these sketches - they always seem to produce great cards.

I have used a striped paper from MME for the background to represent rain.  The colour scheme I have kept fairly dismal to reflect the sentiment.   The image and sentiment are from Bugaboo Stamps and has been coloured with copic markers B000, C5, C3, E43, E00.  I added some faux stitching to both the image and the sentiment and then raised the sentiment up on mount tape.  The corner embellishments are dies from Spellbinders which I have decorated with brown pearls.  The ric-rac is from American Crafts.

CHNC - Anything Christmas
http://craftyhazelnutschristmaschallenge2.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/chnc-challenge-extra-for-august.html

I have layered this card using green paper from a paper scrap pack and some lovely paper from Publikado.  The image is from the sponsor at Friday Sketch Challenge - Flonz.  This is an clear acrylic stamp.  I have added some colour to the image using my copic markers.  The banner die is one from Spellbinders which I cut and embossed then added two different sized pearls to.  The snowflakes are also a Spellbinders die and I added some pearls to the centres of those as well.

CASE card

If I am honest, I am not a great fan of this type of challenge but I didn't want to let it get the better of me.  I nearly didn't do this challenge until I saw one of the cards on the midway challenge:

This is my interpretation of that card:

Mine is still a Christmas card but I have gone with non-traditional colours and a different image.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

I have used a paper from Publikado for the background of the card.  The yellow piece is an offcut of an MME paper.  I have used orange starry grosgrain ribbon from Francheville.  The yellow mesh ribbon I bought by the metre so not sure of the brand of that.  I have also used some bakers twine on the card.  The image is from Kenny K and coloured mainly with copic markers E00, Y08, Y06, YR07, YR04 with the addition of Stickles - Orange Peel and Yellow.

Aloha

I have to say, Heather has out-done herself this month with this absolutely beautiful image.  I just love it and know that I will be using it again.

The two background papers that I have used come from Publikado.  I have covered the join between the two papers with yellow grosgrain ribbon and then over that I have placed a strip of orange mesh ribbon.  The image that I have used is from Heather Valentin and is called Kalani.  I have coloured Kalani with copic markers YR07, YR04, Y06, E11, E00 and added some Stickles -Yellow to the flower centres.  The "aloha" sentiment comes from Back To Paper and die-cut using a Spellbinders pennant die.  The flowers are die-cuts from Marianne's Designs which I have embellished with rhinestones.  The orange ones were the same colour as the rest and I went over them with YR07!

Bit by the Bug Beginnings: Another Bug is Born

You are going to want to go and visit Creative Bug on the Loose today because a new Bug has been born. Naomi is sharing with the world her newest release:

Single Sock Monkey - Flowers - Malia

Here is my card that I created using this wonderful digi:

I used some paper from MME for the background of this card.  The lace is from Sullivans.  I have die-cut Malia using a Spellbinders Beaded Ovals die and then added some Candy coloured pearls from Sullivans - I alternated medium and small pearls for a bit more interest.  I have also added three different flowers in a five flower cluster to give it more of a girlie feel.  I then added a nice glittery number seven.

http://outlawzchallenges.ning.com/group/cfc/forum/topics/creative-freebie-challenge-aug-12-to-aug-24th

I have used a paper from MME for the background which has an aquatic colour scheme and sort of swirly watery wavy pattern.  The frog image is from Anne's Cards 4 U and has been coloured with copic markers (forgot to write down the numbers though!).  The lovely ribbon is some from American Crafts which I have had for a while - tend to use grosgrain most of the time!  The glitter dome matched the colour scheme perfectly - I couldn't believe how well it matched.

Summer Reading Bookmark

I can never find a bookmark when I need one, so I think I'll be keeping this one for myself!

I am entering my bookmark into the following challenges:
Sassy Studio Designs - Dare To Be Sassy Thursday

Glitter n Sparkle - Anything But a Square
http://glitternsparklechallengeblog.blogspot.co.nz/2013/08/challenge-46.html

I have used an offcut of cardstock for the base of the bookmark.  The paper that I have used comes from Create with TLC.  The embossed panel uses cardstock from DCWV and an M-bossibilites folder.  I have covered the join with some gold glitter tape from American Crafts.  The image is from Sassy Studio Designs and has been coloured with copic markers.  I then decided I wanted to glam her up a bit so added some Stickles - Orange Peel and Yellow to her clothing.  I added stitch lines around the image as well.  I punched a hole in the end of the bookmark and added two long pieces of organza ribbon.

Science Teacher Thank You

I found this cool Thank U that has a chemistry feel to it!

QKR Stampede - Don't Bug Me
http://qkrstampede.blogspot.co.nz/2013/08/qkr-stampede-weekly-challenge-52-dont.html

I have used a background paper from MME.  The image is from Meljens Designs Studio - just the right thing for those end of year Thank You cards for teachers.  I found I had a sentiment from Daizeefli that comprised of chemistry elements to spell the words "Thank U" - very clever I thought.  I used a pennant die from Spellbinders to cut the sentiment and oval and scallop oval dies also from Spellbinders to cut the image and frame.  It was a bit tricky to add the frame on top of the image but patience was rewarded!  Colouring is with copic markers with the addition of some Glossy Accents to the apple to make it shine.

Mixed Media Canvas

I had a heap of fun playing with this canvas:

I am entering this canvas into the following challenges:

Outlawz Thursday Challenge - Mixed Media
http://outlawzchallenges.ning.com/group/prismaandothermediums/forum/topics/twisted-thursdays-challenge-aug-15-21-mixed-media

I started with a blank canvas and painted it with acrylic paint.  While still wet I placed a serviette over the top.  As it has dried the dog has picked up some of the background colour!  I have added various bits and pieces almost in a smash book style.  The scrunched up sentiment by Folded Paper and Printed Pixels has been inked with Distress Ink.  I applied some black Memento ink around the edges of the canvas.  There is a strip of washi tape there, some Stickles - Candy Cane, Glossy Accents, glitter, Bakers Twine.  I also added a die-cut snowflake cut from glossy cardstock from DCWV using a Spellbinders Die.  I then applied some metallic rub-ons over the top and a glitter dome to the centre.

Hi

A card just to say "Hi"

This card has been created as an inspiration card for the challenge where I am currently GDT for August:

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

All That Stickles - The Great Outdoors
http://allthatstickles.blogspot.co.nz/search/label/Linky%20Party

I have created the background for this card by swiping two Distress Inks across the card blank.  The image is from Bugaboo Stamps.  I have coloured the image with copic markers BBG05, BG000, B24, Y000.  I added some Stickles - Waterfall to the daisy petals and the grass.  I also added some Glossy Accents to the centre of the daisy and the two ladybugs.  As a finishing touch, I added a blue glitter dome.

Christmas Birdie

A sweet image of a girl with a little birdie:

CHNC - Anything Christmas
http://craftyhazelnutschristmaschallenge2.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/chnc-challenge-extra-for-august.html

I have used a background paper from Publikado.  I really like the vibrant red in the paper and it matched my lace from Sullivans perfectly.  The deep red grosgrain ribbon is from American Crafts.  The image that I have used for this card comes from Fred She Said (one of the sponsors of the Penny's Paper Challenge).  I cut her out using a Beaded Ovals die from Spellbinders and then used mount tape to raise her a bit higher up.
